- Map approval
- The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), which has covered Rishikesh tehsil since 2019 — the state eASE-App portal, with AutoDCR automatic drawing scrutiny. Drawings must come from an architect-planner, draftsman or engineer on MDDA's empanelled lists.
- Plot sizes
- Plots are quoted in square yards and sq ft (1 sq yd = 9 sq ft). Listings seen in October 2026 included 100 sq yd plots in Shyampur and Gumaniwala, 110 sq yd on Haridwar Road and 2,250 sq ft on Veerbhadra Road.
- Climate
- Composite. Rishikesh falls in the Composite zone of BEE's climate map, as Dehradun does in BEE's table of cities: Dehradun district gets about 2,070 mm of rain a year, about 87% of it from June to September, so plan deep overhangs, sized roof drains and a raised plinth, with living rooms facing south for the winter sun.
- Earthquake zone
- Seismic Zone IV. Rishikesh is not in IS 1893's table of towns. BMTPC's Vulnerability Atlas of India (2019) puts all of Dehradun district, which includes Rishikesh, in Zone IV. BIS withdrew its 2025 seismic map in March 2026, so the IS 1893:2016 zones still apply.
- Ground and water
- The Ganga enters Dehradun district at Rishikesh, where the Chandrabhaga river joins it, so plots near either river or a seasonal stream need their flood level checked.
