The Morbi Municipal Corporation (MMC), formed on 1 January 2025 from Morbi Nagarpalika and nine village panchayats including Ravapara, Lilapar and Mahendranagar. MMC issues building permits and acts against illegal construction.

Plot listings around Morbi quote both sq ft and square yards (1 sq yd = 9 sq ft). Few plot listings for Morbi were online in October 2026: one offered 1,626 sq ft on Navlakhi Road for ₹10 lakh, and one in nearby Halvad 326 sq yd.
Climate
Composite. Morbi falls in the composite zone of BEE's climate map, as Rajkot does in BEE's table: hot summers and a monsoon in one year, so insulate and shade the roof, keep west-facing glass small and let every room cross-ventilate.

Seismic Zone IV. Morbi is not in IS 1893's table of towns. BMTPC's Vulnerability Atlas of India (2019) puts Rajkot district, as it stood before Morbi district was carved out of it in 2013, partly in Zone III and partly in Zone IV (16.5% of its area); we design to Zone IV, the stricter of the two. BIS withdrew its 2025 seismic map in March 2026, so the IS 1893:2016 zones still apply.

CGWB's 2013 brochure on Rajkot district, from which Morbi taluka was moved in 2013, finds it on Dhrangadhra sandstone cut by ridges and dykes, under moderately deep to deep clay-loam and clay soils, with high fluoride across much of the old district. On 11 August 1979 the Machchhu II dam upstream failed and its flood submerged Morbi, so plots near the river need a raised plinth.
