- The Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC), whose Town Planning Cell has approved building plans in the municipal area since 2017, when the work moved over from the state's Urban Development and Housing Department. Plans follow the Sikkim Building Construction Regulations, 1991: since a 2001 amendment, the height allowed on a plot depends on the site-stability map of the Mines and Geology Department, whose site stability zonation parameters were notified on 19 March 2021.
