- Plots are measured in katha and decimal: in Ranchi 1 katha = 720 sq ft, and 1 decimal = 435.6 sq ft. Jharkhand makes rainwater harvesting mandatory on plots of 300 sq m and above, linked to the occupancy certificate.
- Climate
- Composite. Milder plateau summers and about 1,300 mm of rain: wide overhangs, good roof drainage and cross-ventilation.
- Earthquake zone
