Under UP's 2025 building bye-laws, house plots up to 100 sq m need no permission, only online registration with a ₹1 token and a self-certified plan, and plots up to 500 sq m in approved layouts get instant online approval once a licensed professional certifies the plan.

- The authority works in square metres, while plots are bought and sold in sq ft and gaj (square yards). Meerut listings mostly show plots of 100–200 gaj in Partapur and Modipuram and on Rohta Road and the Meerut Bypass, and of 200–288 sq m in Shatabdi Nagar.
- Climate
