Since October 2022, residential plots of up to 105 sq m (about 1,130 sq ft) get a deemed permission online at once: the owner uploads the plan and pays the fee. The portal gives no stamped copy, so if a bank needs one, the owner asks the municipal body.

Groundwater use is 97% of what is available and Mandsaur block is over-exploited, and the district plan lists Khanpura, Rajeev Nagar, the bus stand, Dhanmandi and the Pashupatinath temple area as the town's flood-prone parts along the Shivna.
